About the event
We offer our campers an active, healthy, and safe place to develop their horsemanship skills and build personal confidence. Campers learn in a safe, relaxed, and fun atmosphere through demonstrations, hands-on activities and horse related arts and crafts, some fun games and riding lessons.Campers are i nstructed from the first day on safety skills around a horse. They learn essentials about horse behavior and also experience important lessons in horse care through grooming, tacking, and specially-designed games and practices.
All lessons are taught by experienced trainers and tailored for your child’s level and ability.
This camp is recommended for riders ages 4-7 and aimed towards limited or beginner level. This camp is limited to 10 riders.
What the day might look like/things we will discuss:
HR 1: Introduction to instructors and camp helpers, introduction to the horse/pony. Go over general safety rules, and begin learning how to brush, tack up and lead horse/pony to arena.
HR 2.5: Learn the basics of riding, how to steer, stop, back up and go. Learn how to navigate through some simple obstacles, play a few games on horseback and team building exercises.
Lastly, campers will dismount and lead their horse/pony back to the barn to be unsaddled. Campers will then spend some time with their horse/pony by finger painting them in fun themes and learn about the different body parts of the horse. The end of the camp, campers will help clean up the horses/ponies before putting them out to pasture.
Ride time about 45 minutes if campers have the attention span for it.
